Veterinary Assistant  Part time 05072015 NEW!

The Humane Society of Missouri is seeking an individual with veterinary hospital experience to work in our AAHA accredited veterinary clinic and surgery center. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual that possesses knowledge of animal health care, animal restraint techniques, and surgery preparation in addition to being detail-oriented, and having excellent communication and multi-tasking skills. This position assists veterinarians; restrains animals, dispenses surgical equipment; lifts animals to weigh for medications/anesthetics, preps animals for treatment and/or surgery, maintains supply inventory, monitors anesthetic solutions, give medications, applies splints/bandages and cleans/disinfects surgery equipment. The ideal candidate will also be excellent at maintaining strong working relationships with HSMO coworkers and customers and maintaining a positive and professional public image at all times. This individual should have animal handling/restraining experience, experience in a veterinary hospital setting. Also must be available for shifts Monday thru Saturday.

Development Office Assistant 04072015 NEW!
The Development Office Assistant will coordinate the daily operations of the fundraising and development office. The individual will greet visitors to our location and the Development office, assist with requests for information from other HSMO departments and the general public, answer incoming calls and route to the appropriate individuals, as well as provide administrative support to the Chief Development Officer, Director of Planned and Major Gifts, and Assistant Directors of Development-Donor Relations and Data and Membership Management. In addition to these duties, the right candidate will complete the data entry and fulfillment of some HSMO fundraising programs. Also included will be database maintenance and clean-up under the direction of management. The right individual will have excellent customer service, computer and communication skills, and be a team player with knowledge of a development office. A high school diploma or G.E.D. required with 1-3 years of administrative experience, preferably with exposure to development and fundraising operations.  Position may require overtime and some weekend and evening event activities.

Responsibilities include feeding, watering, turning out animals, and cleaning stalls and living quarters.. Provides all animals at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch with proper care and attention including adherence to established feeding, sanitation and medical procedures. Horses, goats, sheep, birds and pigs need care and attention.  Interacts with public in a positive and courteous manner. The successful candidate must be 18 years or older, should have previous horse handling experience, a Driver’s license, and experience with other farm animals is desirable. Experience working with stallions and foals is preferred, including halter training and socializing. Operates all types of equipment and various attachments in a safe and responsible manner.  Our horse and farm animal rescue ranch in Union, Missouri is seeking an experienced supervisor to assist the Ranch Director in the daily operations of the ranch, including the care of animals, the supervision/instruction of employees and volunteers, and the maintenance of a safe and clean environment. You will need a valid Class E driver’s license (or the ability to obtain one), a four year degree, and 3-5 years of supervisory, horse handling, and animal care experience. Excellent communication, customer service, and computer skills are also a must.
