Adoption Fees

Depending upon individual circumstances, adoption fees may vary.
Adoption fees do not include $10 rabies tag fee for all dogs and cats.

Dogs six months of age and older are $135,
which includes:

  • First DHPP vaccination (Distemper/Hepatitis/ Parainfluenza/Parvovirus). Booster shots are required and are adopter's financial responsibility.
  • Rabies registration
  • First Bordetella vaccination
  • First deworming (Follow-up fecal exam recommended)
  • Heartworm test (for dogs older than six months of age)
  • Initial flea treatment
  • Spay or neuter surgery
  • Microchip identification
  • Ear cleaning and nail trim
  • Temporary collar, tag and leash
  • Paw Perks membership 
  • Starter bag of Purina dog food
  • Shelter, food and loving care from the Humane Society of Missouri
 

Desirable breeds*, puppies younger than six months and adult dogs under 35 lbs are $285, which includes:

Cats six months and older are part of the "Pick your Price" adoption special: Choose your own adoption fee, minimum $35!
Adoption fees for adult cats are waived every Thursday!

  • Spay or neuter surgery
  • Temporary collar, tag and cardboard carrier

Kittens younger than six months are $135.

 Rabbits: $15, which includes:

  • Spay or neuter surgery
  • Nail Trim
Since rabbits and other critters like to chew cardboard, please don't rely on our temporary cardboard carriers to transport your new furry friend home. If you own a carrier or cage, please bring it with you. Plastic carriers are available for purchase at our St. Louis City Gift Shop.

 Guinea Pigs: $15

Since guinea pigs and other critters like to chew cardboard, please don't rely on our temporary cardboard carriers to transport your new furry friend home. If you own a carrier or cage, please bring it with you. Plastic carriers are available for purchase at our St. Louis City Gift Shop.
