Our e-tails monthly Ranch Animal
Hi, my name is Stan!
Stan was rescued from the trailer wreck in September of 2006. He suffered cuts and scrapes to his legs and collapsed due to dehydration and exhaustion at the triage site. He was revived with medical attention and tender care.
We soon found out that he is a tattooed thoroughbred and although he never raced on the track he was trained to be a race horse when he was younger. We don't know why but for some reason he never made it to a race. His racing name was Prince Conley. In fact, we don't know much about Stan's life between being a Kentucky bred race horse to ending up on the semi trailer headed for the slaughter plant. The wreck gave Stan and the other horses a second chance at life and companionship.
Everyone who visits falls in love with Stan's personality. He loves attention and has such a kind eye. He is a gentle giant. At 17'1" hands tall, he is the tallest horse at Longmeadow. He is very sociable and wants to be part of every conversation. He was difficult to take a photo of because he kept wanting to rest his head on my shoulder and have his cheeks rubbed.
Stan is looking for an adoptive home where he can retire and live out the rest of his happy life. Stan is about 20 years old and very full of life. He has some damage to his navicular bone and is only approved for light riding. He also has a thoroughbred personality where he likes to go while at the same time being well mannered. If Stan is going to be ridden he needs at least an intermediate rider who can control him and remind him to take it slow. Stan also likes to play in the pasture with his friends.
