Perpetrator(s)

April 14, 2008-The Humane Society of Missouri is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person/persons responsible for shooting an adult pit bull dog this afternoon. At approximately 4 p.m. this afternoon, the Humane Society received a phone call from the St. Louis City Police Department that a dog was shot on Paris Avenue in North St. Louis City. Rescued Barn OwlsHumane Society of Missouri Rescues Owls in Caruthersville

April 4-6, 2008- The Humane Society of Missouri rescued two common barn owls in jeapardy of flood waters near Caruthersville. The owls were taken to a wildlife rehabilitation center in Cape Girardeau County on Sunday.

The Humane Society of Missouri continues to keep close watch on favorable conditions for flooding in the Cape Girardeau area.

Humane Society of Missouri rescues 152 animals from property in Monroe County

Monroe County RescueOrganization continues to care for 170 animals affected by recent flooding; Is on standby to respond to possible additional flooding in southern Missouri

Animals rescued:
65 dogs including a Catahoula type female with six 2-week old puppies
6 cats
5 rabbits
4 horses
4 goats
67 chickens and ducks
1 female newborn calf born by emergency Cesarean section performed in the field today. The mother was severely compromised and did not survive. Read more.

Humane Society of Missouri rescuing more than 50 animals from property in Monroe County

April 2, 2008- Working in cooperation with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, the Humane Society of Missouri is rescuing more than 50 dogs and several horses believed to be endangered on a property near Madison, Missouri. Read more.


Kennelwood Pet Resort Agrees to Temporarily Board Dogs

Kennelwood Pet ResortApril 1, 2008- The Humane Society of Missouri would like to thank Kennelwood Pet Resort for temporarily boarding 30 dogs recently rescued from Missouri flooding.

Humane Society of Missouri Transports Another Group of Animals Displaced by Floodwaters in Caruthersville

March 28, 2008- For the third time, the Humane Society of Missouri has transported a group of animals from the already full Caruthersville Humane Society. 48 dogs and 9 cats were transported back to the Humane Society of Missouri shelter on Macklind Avenue and will be placed for adoption.

Humane Society of Missouri Again Called to Caruthersville to Rescue Second Group of Cats, Dogs and Puppies Displaced by Threatening Floodwaters

March 25, 2008- For the second time in three days, the Humane Society of Missouri has been called to the Caruthersville Humane Society to rescue another group of 32 dogs, including 16 puppies, and 18 cats who have been orphaned by the threat of flood. Read more.

Humane Society of Missouri Rescues Cats, Dogs and Puppies Displaced by Rising Floodwaters in Southeastern Missouri

Puppies displaced by the floods.March 24, 2008- The Humane Society of Missouri is coordinating animal rescue and sheltering efforts in Southeastern Missouri.  At the request of the Caruthersville Humane Society, the Humane Society of Missouri is rescuing 37 dogs and 11 cats displaced by the rising flood waters. February 7, 2008- The Humane Society of Missouri has received permanent custody of 22 of the pit bulls and one beagle seized by the Stoddard County Missouri Sheriff’s Department in association with a dog fighting investigation in October 2007. Read more.

Humane Society of Missouri rescuing more than 40 dogs from licensed veterinarian in Dunklin County

Rescued dog from Dunklin CountyJanuary 11, 2008- Working in cooperation with the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department, the Humane Society of Missouri is rescuing more than 40 dogs believed to be endangered on a property owned by a licensed veterinarian near Kennet, Missouri. The team includes experienced animal rescue professionals and a veterinarian. The Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department issued a warrant that was served to remove the animals today. Read more.

Humane Society of Missouri’s Longmeadow Rescue Ranch helps rescue horse entrapped in shallow pond in Franklin County

Horse rescued from muddy pondThursday, January 3, 2008- A 4-year-old paint gelding, owned by Ed Sucher of Franklin County, escaped from his enclosure last night and became entrapped in the mud and ice in a shallow pond on a property south of Gerald, MO in Franklin County. Read more.

Humane Society of Missouri seizes 26 dogs from Stoddard County Dog Fighting Situation

Dog Rescued from Dog Fighting Situation in Stoddard County, MOOctober 21, 2007- Working in cooperation with the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, early this morning the Humane Society of Missouri seized 25 pit bulls and one beagle from an organized dog fight outside Dexter, Missouri. Acting on a tip, the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department issued a warrant to search for and seize materials and animals related to dog fighting.
