Linda gives emergency treatment
to the tiny heatstroke victim.

A female Pekingese mix, approximately 8-10 years of age, was found without ID tags lying in the yard of a Gautier-area woman.  Assisted by Gautier Police Officer Gary Funk, the dog was brought to the Humane Society of Missouri rescue team, where she received emergency treatment from Linda Campbell, a licensed veterinary technician.  The dog was suffering from heat stroke, with a temperature of 106. Linda got the dog’s temperature down to a normal range.

Nancy Young, a local volunteer stationed at Keesler
Air Force Base in Biloxi today had the choice to clean up the base or volunteer in the community; she chose to volunteer and heard of the dog in need. She drove Linda and the dog to a veterinarian she knew of whose clinic had just reopened.

Dr. Chris Duke of Bienville Clinic
treated the little Pekingese mix.
