From Debbie Hill, director of Rescues & Investigations

Tim and Brett continue to search New Orleans by boat for stranded pets.   However, due to the Lamar Dixon improvised animal shelter compound in Gonzales, Louisiana being full, the pets Brett and Tim rescued yesterday were not allowed to be brought into the compound.  Thankfully, HSUS scrambled until 1:30 a.m. to find refrigerated trucks that could house pets in temperate conditions.  HSUS is currently scrambling to find ways to get animals out of New Orleans, and determining where to go with them from that point.

Sadly, Tim reports that they are seeing more and more dead animals in New Orleans and that the surviving pets they see are thin and emaciated.  The situation is extremely frustrating.  It is becoming critical that another animal shelter be established to house the rescued pets or else the animals are just going to be dying off.
