August 30, 2007 - The many adult and puppy Pugs rescued from a substandard breeder in St. Clair County are still fighting their way back to good health. Many of them are very ill and it has yet to be determined when they will be ready for adoption. If you have expressed interest in adopting one of these "special needs" animals be assured that you will receive information on the adoption process when the animals are healthy enough to be adopted into new forever homes.
August 25, 2007 - We have received over 1500 names of people interested in adopting one of the animals rescued from St. Clair County. We will be mailing or emailing information regarding the adoption process. You will receive an adoption application, photos and description of all animals, information describing the adoption process and the adoption fee for these animals.
We are no longer accepting names to be included in this adoption preview. We have hundreds of other loving animals who are desperately seeking a new forever home. To view these animals and find your next best friend, click here.
August 20, 2007 - The animals rescued from a breeder in St. Clair County are improving daily, but recovery may take some time. Because of the chronic and significant health challenges many of them face, we will institute a special adoption process to ensure they find the best, forever, loving homes.
We are truly heartened that we have received overwhelming interest
in adopting one of these dogs. At this point we cannot take additional names. However, we will send an email to our list when the dogs become available for adoption. If you have not already signed up for email communciations from the Humane Society of Missouri, click here.
August 16, 2007 - Working in cooperation with the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, today the Humane Society of Missouri rescued 36 animals believed to be endangered on a property near Collins, Missouri. Due to inability to continue to care for them, the owner of the animals voluntarily surrendered them to the Humane Society. (St. Clair County is in southwest Missouri between Kansas City and Springfield.)
The animals rescued include: 30 Pugs, adults and puppies; 2 adult Boston Terriers; one adult Blue Heeler; two domestic rabbits and one cat. Some of the animals were thin, had eye problems and appeared to have upper respiratory infections. The animals will be taken to the Humane Society’s St. Louis City Headquarters for triage and expert veterinary care and attention from Humane Society staff.
Persons interested in adopting these animals should understand that due to lack of medical care and normal socialization, there may be some health, shyness and behavioral issues, including housetraining challenges.
Your help is urgently needed to assist in providing medical care, shelter, food and attention to the 30 Pugs and other animals rescued from a breeding facility in St. Clair County, Missouri. DONATE NOW!
