Brett and I responded to a call today of a dog locked in a garage, but when we got there, we couldn’t get in and we couldn’t hear any noise coming from inside. That’s when a neighbor came over and showed us where the dog’s little nose was poking out from under the door from where she had been trying to get out.  We got inside the garage and the smell knocked us back.  We really couldn’t believe what we were seeing.

Someone had left a mom pit bull and her pups inside a wire puppy play pen.  When the garage flooded with the storm surge, the mom-dog was able to hop out and get to safety, but her little pups were trapped inside the pen with no place to go.  One must have even tried to crawl inside a water bowl to be safe.  We found food left for the mom-dog, but there was no drinkable water in there.

We found her cowering in a corner. Poor girl, she’s just the sweetest dog. We pulled her out of there and got her to safety.
