1. Lu Lu Belles Feline Luxury

Designer Betty Kouzomis of BKK Designs, a workroom specializing in custom bedding, pillows, table skirts, crib bedding, and cushions collaborated with Lu Lu Belles, a specialty store featuring fine fabrics, furniture and gifts, to create “Lu Lu Belles Feline Luxury.” Betty’s two cats, Simon and Maisy lead a charmed life which includes custom cat beds scattered throughout her home and workroom. They served as the inspiration for Betty’s soft inviting chaise lounge cat bed which is covered in faux fur and lined with a cotton animal print. Maisy and Simon have declared it “purrrfect” for a cozy nap or a long lazy afternoon stretch.

2. Yuppie Puppy

As art and animals are Colleen McNealy’s two greatest passions, she is pleased to have this opportunity to use one to benefit the other. Colleen is an artist and a teacher and designed a piece for the 2007 Art for Animals Gala. The “Yuppie Puppy” luggage dog bed will embrace your dog in luxurious comfort. Constructed with wood and covered with brown faux leather, the luggage bed is hand-painted with a dog-inspired Louis Vuitton-type pattern and trimmed in leather. The interior is covered in fabric and includes a removable cushion. A personalized luggage tag will be included for the lucky winning bidder’s pooch.

3. Charred Oak Wine Barrel

Tim Wilson is a woodworker and cabinet maker who handcrafts pet beds from wood and repurposed furniture like nightstands, dressers and suitcases. He can take an existing piece of furniture or heirloom and create a unique pet bed that fits any home decor. Tim handcrafted this unique “Charred Oak Wine Barrel” pet bed for a cat or small dog. The barrel is constructed of birch laid over bendable plywood and stained in rich golden oak. The wood was charred with a torch and covered in a beautiful lacquer finish. Your pet will find a cozy resting place inside the barrel on a soft black interchangeable cushion.

You and your guests will receive a personal police escort (in your own vehicle) on race morning from the hotel to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Package includes four tickets for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard on Sunday, July 26, 2009, credentials with access to the pits and garage area for all three days and the action on race morning (must be 18 years of age). Two one-bedroom suites provided at the Staybridge Suites Downtown Indianapolis for July 24-26, 2009.

5. Canine Cocoon

Anna Ives and Katie Rietz are young architects at Cannon Design who have made a commitment to environmentally conscious principals in their work. They are both dedicated dog owners and have a strong interest in the welfare of animals. Their “Canine Cocoon” is constructed using materials with little to no environmental impact. The base of the bed is constructed with recycled and renewable materials and the sides are made from bent bamboo. The cushion is a 100% wool fabric donated by Designtex and filled with organic cotton. The design of the bed is intended to give a cocoon-like feeling of comfort and warmth while still maintaining a modern aesthetic. |

Claire Medol Hyman is an award winning fine artist, cartoonist and writer. Her life and art include concern, love and humor for animals and nature.
