Contest Rules
- The photograph must contain only animals, and each picture must include your own pet or pets.
- Cats and dogs should be wearing collars and ID tags.
- There is no limit to the number of photos you enter, but each must be accompanied by a $35 entry fee. Submit your photo online or by mail to the Humane Society of Missouri, 1201 Macklind Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri, 63110.
- All entries must be in color, have horizontal layout, and contain well-focused, sharp images. We prefer submissions as digital photos, in 300 dpi (dots per inch) or higher, 2400x3000 pixels in JPEG (JPG) format. We also accept color prints in 4"x6", 5"x7", or 8"x10" sizes. If using a digital camera, adjust your settings for the highest resolution and quality. A 6 megapixel camera on the highest setting will result in an image usable for a first place winner.
- We cannot accept Polaroid photos or copyrighted professional photographs. For clarity and quality photo reproduction, please do not stamp or write on the back of photos. We cannot return photos. All photos become the property of the Humane Society of Missouri which reserves the right to resize and to use them for other Humane Society of Missouri purposes.
- The Humane Society of Missouri reserves the exclusive right to select photos to be reproduced in the 2010 Pet Calendar. Photos will be selected according to appropriate content and adherence to technical requirements and contest rules as described above.
- Entries that meet these requirements and are postmarked or uploaded online by midnight August 1, 2009 will be included in the 2010 calendar. First and second place winners only will be notified by phone or email. The calendar will be available in November 2009.
- All entries will be blind judged by Humane Society of Missouri staff. First place photos will be featured as "Pets of the Month", and second place photos will be included as smaller photos within the calendar portion of each month's page. All other photos will be included in the calendar as part of the pet collages.
Contest proceeds give second chances to homeless animals.
