Humane Society Rescues 70 animals from Butler County

October 31, 2006 - In cooperation with the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, the Humane Society of Missouri rescued 70 neglected animals - 59 dogs, seven cats, and four rabbits - from a property outside Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

In 2004, the Humane Society of Missouri rescued nearly 60 dogs and cats from this same property.

“It’s heartbreaking and frustrating that so many animals are again in such substandard conditions,” said Debbie Hill, Vice President of Operations, Humane Society of Missouri. “This appears to be a classic hoarding case in which an owner continues to collect animals and the situation gets out of control. We are pleased to be working with the prosecutor to hopefully ensure that this situation will not happen yet again.”

The animals are now at the Humane Society of Missouri's shelter receiving much-needed care.  Please make a donation today to help.
