SUMMER MEANS KITTEN SEASON AT THE
HUMANE SOCIETY OF MISSOURI
PURRfect Adoption Specials on Cats/Kittens
June 11, 2009-Summer is kitten season and across the country, animal shelters are experiencing a serious boom in the kitten population. It’s the time of year when the most litters of kittens are born and shelters like the Humane Society of Missouri receive a huge influx of cats and kittens.
“At our three shelters and in foster care, we have nearly 500 hundred cats and kittens waiting to find new homes,” says Kathy Warnick, President of the Humane Society of Missouri. “We are fortunate we have the space, staff and volunteers to care for all the cats, but I know they’d be much happier with a family and a place to call home.”
SPECIAL KITTEN SEASON ADOPTION FEES
To help find homes for all the extra felines, the Humane Society of Missouri is offering adoption incentives to people interested in opening their homes and their hearts to new cats. Effective immediately, adopters will receive a $50 savings on adult cats, six months and older, and a $30 savings on kittens. The adoption fee includes spaying or neutering, vaccines, worming and feline leukemia check.
FELINE LITTER BOX MANNERS CLASSES OFFERED
To promote good feline habits and support the lifelong bond between cats and their owners, the Humane Society also offers a one-session “Litter Box Manners” class at its St. Louis City and Chesterfield Valley Centers. For just $20 cat owners learn how to promote appropriate litter box habits which are particularly important when introducing resident and new cats. Attendees also receive the book “The Fastidious Feline” by renowned feline behaviorist, Patricia McConnell, PhD. To register visit www.hsmo.org/pettraining
