Spay and Neuter Services

The most responsible thing any pet owner can do is spay or neuter their animal. This routine surgery promotes better health and improved behavior in dogs and cats, while helping to alleviate the problem of pet overpopulation.

Each year, millions of dogs and cats in the United States are euthanized because of pet overpopulation. The Humane Society of Missouri is committed to decreasing the growing number of unwanted litters in our community.

We offer low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for the pets of both Missouri and Illinois residents. All pets that are spayed or neutered at our facilities are treated with pain medication and, with a minimal amount of home care, are back to being normal, happy pets in just a few short days.

SNOW Program (Canine and Feline) - $99.95

Our Spay/Neuter Now or SNOW program is offered at all three HSMO locations and is available to all pet owners regardless of where they reside.  The cost for this program is $99.95.  Pets must be at least four months old and be up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines.  These vaccines must have been given by a licensed veterinarian at least two weeks prior to surgery.  A $20 non-refundable deposit is required when the appointment is scheduled and will be applied to the balance of the bill on the day of surgery.

Dog SNIP Program - $20.00

Our Dog Spay/Neuter Incentive Program, SNIP, is offered at our Macklind Avenue and Westport locations.  It is available to all Missouri residents and provides spay/neuter procedures at a cost of $20.00 for up to three canine pets annually. Dogs must be at least four months old and be up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines.  These vaccines must have been given by a licensed veterinarian at least two weeks prior to surgery.  A $20.00 non-refundable deposit is required when the appointment is scheduled and will be applied to the cost of the surgery.  If for any reason you do not keep your scheduled surgery appointment, your $20.00 deposit will be forfeited. 

All SNIP appointments are full through May. Please call at the beginning of May to schedule an appointment for June.

Dog City SNIP Program - St. Louis City Residents Only

Our Dog City SNIP program is available to pet owners with proof of residence in St. Louis City and provides spay/neuter procedures at no cost.  Pets must be at least four months. old.  A $20 deposit is required when the appointment is scheduled.  The deposit is refundable at the time of surgery or, if you prefer, may be donated to the City SNIP fund.
