The Humane Society of Missouri Celebrates 150 years and Counting!

November 10, 2021

On Saturday, November 6th, the Humane Society of Missouri celebrated its 150th birthday – delayed by a year because of Covid-19 – with a fundraiser that featured a look back on its beginnings, and how far its come over the last century and a half.

The event featured a short film about the Humane Society’s many milestones, auction items to bid on, an animal-themed atmosphere and even appearances by some of Longmeadow Rescue Ranch’s “Barn Buddies.”

“Being able to come together, finally, to really celebrate this important anniversary for us was wonderful,” says Shana Cook, the special events manager for the Humane Society of Missouri. “Our guests provided proof of their Covid vaccinations, which we believe was important to safely come together and enjoy the evening. It was great, and it helped to raise funds so we can someday celebrate our next milestone!”

It’s too early to know how much the event raised, but the Humane Society is incredibly grateful to the many generous supporters who helped give animals the second chance they deserve.
