Adoption Fees

Depending upon individual circumstances, adoption fees may vary. Adoption fees do not include $10 rabies tag fee for all dogs and cats.

In an effort to reduce the number of animals still in the shelters while also maintaining necessary social distancing, pre-approved adopters will now be able to adopt a pet via curbside pickup.

Curbside Adoption Details:

Those who are serious about adoption and want to take advantage of being at home with their new pet can fill out an interest form and go to hsmo.org/adopt to view available animals at both HSMO shelter locations. Once the adopter has found the pet they’d like to adopt, they should contact the appropriate shelter as noted in the pet description via phone to go through the application process and interview. Call (314) 951-1562 for the Macklind Ave. Headquarters and (314) 951-1588 for the Best Buddy Pet Center in Maryland Heights.
